Creating new tests

is it best to have variety types of question on tests?

I have learned by genarating new test helps my own learnings in the subjects that may not teach every semester.

Hi Mark - Thanks for your post to the forum. There should be no point diference beteen a multiple choice and a True/False question just based on the format of the question. You might assess higher points based on level of difficulty but not on the format. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

I want to use a variety in my tests but don't know how to assess scores. For instance should a multiple choice Q score the same as a True or False?

Hi Jeaneen- Thanks for your post to the forum. Yes, if you can conform your assessments to your teaching, that is the best possible option. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

Prior to completing this module I would have said no. Now I would say yes. I use a test bank cd that comes with my teaching materials and realize now that this method may not be the most effective. I find many of the answers to be ambiguous and will be recontructing my quizzes in order to measure overall learning.

After instructing the same subject for several terms. It helps to keep me involved in the current students, subject or term to create a variety of tests. I change the delivery of the information during the course to keep from getting redundant. I think it is also an advantage to the student to customize the exams by matching the material presented during the term and the learning techniques or abilities of the class.

Hi Steven - Thanks for your post to the forum. Because differnt types of assessments appeal to diferent learning styles, a variety is usually the best strategy. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
