Creative and Effective Teaching
Should go hand and hand in that the creative teacher is usually more effective
For me creativity comes in addressing issues or problem solving. There is more than one way to arrive to an answer or solution. Usually I try to make the results of effective teaching concise and consistent in benefitting the students, but of course there are many ways to reach the same goal so I keep open to that. Like many things, it's the balance that achieves the maximum results
I'm definitely all for creativity and interactivity in the classroom. In terms of testing, I have found that my students tend to appreciate a more traditional approach so that they know what to expect. A surprise non-graded exercise in the classroom is much different from a test that is in a new format that the students may find unsettling.
