multiple-choice tests

this is a great tool that i printed out that helps students understand how to breakdown multiple choice questions. i will chare it with my students so they can get that extra help for there exam

I teach primarily CJ courses. Realistically these students will be taking this format of test when they enter the filed. There is a skill involved with this type of testing as well. So we often give them a MC format to allow them to develop this skill.

In the Army we called them multiple guess. If they are well thought out they are a true test on learning, but too often they are poorly done and either give away the answer or cause student confusion.

We use multiple-choice tests mostly as well due to the fact that our students (Dental Hygiene) also take National Boards that are structured multiple choice. They have been re-formated though using more than one answer to be correct on the multiple choice answers

This is a great reminder that multiple choice questions does not always reveal what the student is thinking. I'll remember this! Thanks!

At the Nursing school I teach, all of our test are multiple choice and are written using Bloom's Taxonomy. We use a lot of critical thinking, since the Board of nursing exams are this way.

A multiple choice question does not always reveal what the student is thinking. Providing strategies that help students "survive" multiploe choice question tests is a great idea. I never use limit my tests to this type of questions.

Hi Raphael, I am glad that you and your students will find the info on how to deal with multiple choice questions helpful! Susan
