Hi Stephen, I like the progression of assessments that you describe. Best wishes- Susan

I use multiple choice and fill in the blank on my test. I feel I cover all that I lectured on and discussed and I also review with my students.

It depends on what hvac class Im teaching,if it involves more of identifying components I use matching otherwise I use multple choice and true or false.

It depends on what the class is, what the objectives of the unit and test are, and if the class is a 100, 200, or 300 level course.

I usually used true and false for quizes and for a test multible choice.

I like making up my own exams plus using term exams.I also like giving true and false exams.

I start the course each term with a short essay or complete this answer type of quiz or survey. Next I use multiple choice and true /false quiz’s to find out whom is reading the material and listening in the lectures. I also use skill testing with practical application or demonstrations as a measure of the students’ comprehension of the concepts. The results of the multiple choice questions seem to be the best indication of the student commitment to learn the topic completely. The practical application tests show the student’s confidence using the knowledge they’ve acquired. Each term I tend to rewrite several questions and new skill tests. My hope is that the tests are both a test of knowledge and an additional learning tool.

Generally I use multiple-choice tests, but it depends on the subject matter. I also use some matching, and I even have my students do some drawing.

If the subject matter is strictly just a regurgitation of the facts, than it's mostly multiple choice. But sometimes they have to identify certain EQ parts, which I have them draw. If they can draw it, they can recognize it.

Because I teach music, I also do listening tests, but these are very basic, and are ultimately multiple choice type tests. (As in, listen to the scale and identify if it's Major or Minor.)

I like to have hands on assessments whenever possible. Since we are prepping people to enter the workforce, I think its more important to be able to do the work than it is to be able to spit out facts onto a test.

I use a variety of formats in each test, as this accomplishes several goals, including 1) putting the students at ease with multiple choice and true/false questions, and 2) testing their critical thinking skills and understanding of the material through short essay questions.

I use a wide variety of testing formats. I mostly use a combination of Multiple choice, short answer, and completion. The only type I try to avoid is Essay. I feel they are to subjective and what if the student understands something different than I would expect them to is it wrong? maybe not.

Hi Leslie, Good strategies to create effective assessments. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

I use a varity of methods dependent on the materail coverd and the allowed time of the test. if it is a short test I normally use multiple choice and true/false. For longer test I add essay and short answer.

it depends on wnat classes i teach. In clinical classes i use critical thinking questions.

I usually always give multiple choice questions. Sometimes there maybe some short answer or fill in the blank questions.

In introductory courses I use multiple choice and true false early and often in the course.

I like making up my own exams plus using term exams.I also like giving true and false exams.

I use the computer program given to the instructors by the school and i just pick our random questions.. i also give quizes, which my students say are harder then the test. i make the quizes myself- she i inform the students when i tell you what is going to be on the quiz, you better study- because the quizes are not easy.. the student tend to struggle the 1st quiz and then realize i am not joking and then make sure they study and pass all the rest of them

I generally use a mix of mult.choice, matching, fill in and short answer to allow different kinds of thinking skills.
