True and false is the worst format in my opinion for adult learners. It does not challenge or allow students to use the knowledge they have recieved in the corse. I feel it also leads them to question the importance of such knowledge

Yes, how the true false question is worded plays a big part on if the student will understand the question.
I am not fond of true/false either. I feel that students guess most of the time when taking this type of test. And I do not feel they take the test seriously. Also, I do not have appropriate feedback because of the guessing issue.
Our Dental Hygiene students take national boards at the end of their courses and there are no True/False on that test, but I still occasionally put a few in if I think it adds to the critical thinking aspect of the question just to keep them on their toes.
I feel that true and false questions can be tricky and misleading at times depending on the way they are worded.
