Standardized Testing

We use the standardized tests that come with our books in our curriculum. I always make sure that I cover the material in our books that is going to be on the test. I will say, make sure you highlight this area, in some cases so they know what to study. Sometimes I will write my own tests if I don't like the questions in the standardized test.

Using standardized testing helps students because I will also let the students know the areas to study. I will be very specific which gives the students reliable study guides.

I agree that the book's standardized test sometimes have incorrect answers. We do use them in our program, however we really have to almost pratically take the test ourselves to check for inaccuracies.

Hi Carl, Thanks for your post to the forum. I have also encountered this problem so advise faculty to carefully review any test they will be using. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

Using the book's standardized test require: first that the material from the book is covered completely and second that the test questions are appropriate for the course and material. I have found several times where the answers to the standardized tests are incorrect or ambiguous.
