Skill Testing
Many of my students who do poorly on written exams are my best performers in skill application tests
Many of my students learn hands on skills before they learn theory.
Hi Gabriel, Thanks for your post to the forum. When I use PPT in lecture I highlight the important terms and I always give them access to the powerpoint by posting it in the course documents online. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

I agree with all of you! Being a culinary instructor, I see this issue all too often. Some of my best students shut down when it comes to taking test. I try to come up with ways of making them memorize specific terms just by changing the intonation while I lecture, followed by a question.

I agree. In Culinary Arts, the best way to truely asses the students progress is to have them reproduce something. Understanding theory is important, but obviously you have to able to make food!!
Hi Stephanie, Thanks for your post to the forum. i agree that whenever there is a licensing exam at stake, we need to have our assessments mirror that format as much as possible. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

We try to duplicate the Regional clinical board as much as we can. It has helped with the student learning outcomes.
Dental hygienists are more hands on learners.
