Using different types of tests?

Do you feel that using different types of tests is beneficial and can keep students challenged?

Absolutely. Being British trained, I always use different types of tests. Even in one test, I always use different forms of testing. I never use all multiple-choice. I mix it up by throwing in writing short notes, filling in the blank spaces (NO TEST BANK). When students ask me if there is a test bank, I always tell them YES. The test bank is in their heads. I also include Matching-type questions. Using different types of tests and variations of questions in the same test is beneficial and can keep students challenged.

Hi Glenn, Thanks for your post to the forum. Great question! Yes, just as students have different learning styles, students also may do better on different types of assessments. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.
