Rewarding a student
At the school I work at praise is always good student like to be praised for their accomplishments it sometimes make other student drive harder to be like their peers.
All words of encouragement are need for students growth
I always make an effort to praise students for doing well. For a student who did not do as well I try and be encouraging or emphasize that the quiz or test taken is just a small portion of the final grade. Encouragement and praise is very important to the students.

Is it acceptable to praise a student who got a great test score in front of the class? Maybe this would encourage others to want that recognition?
I agree and disagree. I believe students should receive immediate verbal encouragement, but I also think the occassional bonus reward is in order. It keeps all students prepared to participate.
Memorable to student and the others who are motivated to be "next"

Verbal, on the spot, recognition is awesome for building confidence in a student and their status with peers.
Our program has also made a point of doing quarterly awards ceremonies which include lots of printed certificates for all sorts of things beyond attendance and GPA achievements.
Despite a wide variety of ages and learning styles, my students still love getting a 'gold star' sticker on a job well done. It is truly amazing what a sticker will do.
I agree, it builds up the student's self confidence and also encourages participation from the other students. I have frequently tried to think of other creative ways to praise the students and encourage participation, but I could never come up with any ideas other than candy or extra points. Any Suggestions?
