test methods

Are there any other instructors out there that find they have to create their own tests because the ones supplied by the text books are not well written/test on subject taught?

Not all test banks are well validated. We have fould it critical for instructors to take the tests them selves before using them on students.

Our educational facility uses a test bank only when creating exams/quizes for students. These questions have been tested and validated as opposed to instructor created exams. I have found that the questions are well written without ambiguity.

When the course materials from a text is available, I use the test generator; however, I am careful to choose questions and question formats that show mastery of material. There are times that the provided test bank have errors, I check all Q&As for correctness, and I also add my own questions as need arises.

I always write my own tests because I find them more directly related to topics discussed in class.
