Take new information and share it with the class as a learing tool. It brings everyone in the class room to evolve at the same time with this new information.

I think if you are passionate about the subject you teach, learning more about the topics is often part of what you do with your free time. That is, it is something you would do whether you were teaching or not.

I read lots of material when I waiting for the Dr., when kids are taking a nap, when I doing laundry, any and everywhere I have a 30min lag in time to stay on top of what's new regarding the topic. I ask others what innovative ways they have to keep the energy up in class and tailor the activities to the time frame available.

I don't, I have a lesson plan that meets the need of entry level students, keep in mind my school is a trade school. and when the students move on to the next module which generally coinsides with what is taught in my module they move on from there. in regard to new ways to make my presentations, I generally do that thru a questions and answer period and address the questions that are relavent to the entire class, making sure we stay on topic.
note: understanding that many teachers have different and argumentative views. I will leave it as it is. thanks for your input.

First I develop a plan based on the objectives, I research, review the topic and utilzing the resources available, attempting to bring in innovative active learning technquices

this is a true statement for me also Im not trying to fool my students in what I know. I explain what ive done the confidents in my explaination come out to my students

I have learned over the course of instructing class in the auto field that you may not have all the latest info on the car that are out there so one needs to be open that the student has read something that you may not have seen or read , ask them to show you the info and do a little reserch after, it shows them that your also willing to learn new things and are open minded as well

Hi Chris!

It is difficult for instructors to have time for self improvement. I believe that at times we try to be to focused on academic self improvement. There are so many times that we have learned something or had a growth experience that we can share. Just look for those opportunities as well.

Keep up the good work!

I have a lot of work every day preparing for and cleaning up after class. Self improvemnt is difficult to fit into the schedule. My company signed me up for this program and it sometimes all I do for growth.

It depends on the situation. With a class filled with over-achievers, I end up spending more time on research. However, with a class that doesn't do very well on tests, I more time thinking about how to get them to learn the fundamentals solidly.

Time is set aside for the technical and soft-skills training. Currently an equal length of time is required for each on a quarterly basis. Personally I prefer to invest more time in one session than to spread the session out over many short time intervals.

Although we are on the job for 6 hours per day. I am thinking of tomorrows lecture ahead of time and anything in the news or a magazine i run across I incorparate into the class time

It is difficult with the work schedule I have but I try to set time every week to allow myself to study the latest technological advancments in my specialty areas.

Briscoe,
It is so key to stay up to date with the latest developments in our field of expertise. Great job on keeping current.

I do this by staying involed whit the metrial i am teaching suchas auto electrial training

Hi Charles!

Sounds like you are learning along with your students. I like this! I believe this keeps the instructor fresh and interesting to the students.

Good job and keep up the good work!

I teach high performance engine rebuilding at a post high school level.Technically ,this is a constantly evolving subject.I have come to realise that I have to plan new ways to get this information across to my students as I absorb it myself.
Although my course is post high school, the average age of my students is 19 years old and their interest level has to be stimulated. This in itself takes a great deal of effort and time.

Hi Jennifer!

I couldn't agree more! If I don't learn something new everyday, I feel as though I have missed something. This is what we want to instill into our students - a love of life-long learning!

Keep up the good work!
