organization and content management reduces being sidetracked in instruction
Keeping focus is key to keeping on track. Each student needs to be prepared to handle the flow of information when they arrive. There is prep work on both ends. I find giving them each step works best instead of doing everything at once.
Patricia,
This is definitely a struggle for me as well. What I'm trying to do is determine what information I think the students can acquire on their own through reading (obviously I need to hold them accountable for this) & then focusing on what I need to cover.

When I look at the big picture I am often overwelmed by the amount of material I need to teach in such a short period of time. I don't want to short change my students.
I try to concentrate on Knowledge Bites. That is to say, "This is the information or concept I need to teach today so I can build on it and teach this other concept tomorrow." How do others deal with the large task of information vs time?
Michael,
You are right...the more organized we are, the more on target we generally are with our instruction.
