Kelly,
I like your ideas here & especially how you distinguished between teaching "a way" but not "the way."
Dr. Ryan Meers
I think that an expert instructor would be very knowledgeable in their field. I also think that an expert instructor teaches "a way" but not "the way" when teaching about hands on skills. I believe an expert instructor would demonstrate several different, but acceptable ways to do the skills. The expert instructor would also be an excellent student in their field, and be open to learn from their students too. Another quality that an expert instructor would posses would be to have the ability to teach to all skill levels of students in the class. That expert instructor would be able to give visual examples, audio examples, and hands on examples of the concept they are imparting on their students also.
Cleider,
I would agree & to me what makes an expert an expert is that they recognize they still have much to learn.

I believe there is no such thing as an expert instructor. A knowledgeable one, yes... As we gain experience in this field we learn more and more about it each day that makes us better.
I explain my background to my students, but I never declare myself as an 'expert'. I let my actions speak for themselves. The students know that I respect them and their opinions; and that I always love to hear from them.
I don't think there is a such thing as an expert instructor. But if the instructor takes the time to prepare material and study the subject, I do believe that they can become great at what they do.
milagros,
I think this is an excellent question. What would you say are these qualities yourself?
