When lecturing
When lecturing it’s always a good idea to try to stay current with new technology so you can enhance the overall class room experience.
I too believe this makes subject matter relevant to my students.
When lecturing I give examples on how the material can benefit them. Including past situations where the material we are talking about is relevant and helped me in a particular situation. Having training aids before the lecture helps transition from one subject to the next. Training aids can be charts, pictures, films or in our case automotive parts. This makes for a well organized presentation that flows smooth.
One of the positive comments Mr. Vazquez made about my evaluation was correlating the topic with real life scenarios I've experienced myself. I believe this also give the students an insight as to what to expect, or in some cases, how to handle the situation.
This is very true in the automotive field. The new generation is all about cars and they are always on the internet reading about new technology.
Danny,
and this can provide a great reference point for them for future use when they're out in the field.

I agree completly. I love showing real world examples that tie back in to the lectures & Readings. It always opens up the discusion & gets students involved. They are able to relate to it much better
Kristen,
this is a great idea as it does break up the lecture & provides those real life examples.

I like to give examples by using youtube, or something similiar to help break up the lecture, and give them a little bit of a breather.
I always try to pull from current industry news or technology examples in my lecture. I find this gives the student some relevance to subject that is being covered.
Robin,
this is a great idea & also helps show the relevance of a given topic to the students.

I find that there are current world happenings that I use during my lectures to give the students an inside look at exactly the points I am discussing with them. This always breaks the ice and promotes an open discussion about the pros and cons of the subject at hand.
