Music

I like this idea . I will try to implement it in my classroom

Yeah at our school they banned the use of music too, but allowed it in our production kitchen. Definitely a higher level of energy in the lab. I bet a nickle to a dollar that our students will take better notes during our powerpoint lectures if we had a little upbeat music in the background.

Being a culinary instructor our test days are usually cooking practicals. I used to play music during the practicals. Light and easy in order to relieve some of the stress. Recently our corporation has banned this practice stating it is not a professional environment

I too like this idea -especially during the group work and tests, aids in releaving the stress.

Hi Cynthia!

Since you've had so much experience with music in the classroom, please give those of us who are still experimenting a few tips.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

I've always used music in my classrooms

Hi Traci!

The other thing that I feel is important - is that we have some idea of how our students feel about music and how they would like for instructors to use it. Then we know that learning continues to take place.

Good job!

Music has a way of calming students thus making it less stressful in the classroom environment.

This is an interesting subject! I hope to use this new found knowledge to my students' advantage. I remember using this method in during my own studies. Important to use the guidelines suggested, though. Music used inappropriately may also inhibit learning.

I like this idea of playing music in my classroom, so that my students can be stimulated in the learning process. I never really knew that music could have such a positive impact on my students. I will have to try this.

I've tried it and most students have responded well. The music volume can be tricky to please all students so watch for that.
