Classroom Settings
The setting in the classroom i find is very effective when doing group assignments and class projects. Using different color markers to write lecture notes is also effective.
Elmer,
and these can be great ways to help the students (of all ages) learn more effectively.

Color, shapes, motion and sound if you can. These traits for adult learners are attuned to what the eye and in the case of sound our ears understand. Thus its natural that involvement enhances learning.
I think this demonstrates some great creativity in teaching an area that has definite prescribed material (diagrams, etc) yet you've found a way to keep the students engaged.
david,
Seat arrangement is one of the most interesting & easiest ways to change the dynamics & to facilitate better classroom discussion.

Rotating seating using a lottery is a fun way of getting student out of their comfort zone. So often students select the same seat, and the lottery allows them not to worry about the decision.
I like the idea of using different colors to write on the board and also changing the seat arrangements to accommodate interaction and discussion.
Georgia,
I too like to use the different colors when possible. It helps to highlight different or important information.
