color

I was amazed to discover how valuable a tool color can be in the classroom. Now that I am aware of it, I will use the appropriate color to liven the learning environment.

Hi Ryan,
As I read the description of the telecommunications instructor having a projected fish tank on the wall while students arrived in class, I had an a-ha moment, I need to do that! What a relaxing environment that would create. I am teaching a first session "required" course in career development and the students are nervous - most days - and this will enhance the classroom tremendously. Thanks for the idea!

Donald ,
this is very true & we want to make sure to create an environment where all of our students can learn the most effectively.

Even the color of the walls in the class room has an effect on learning. Think about it, walking into a dull colored class room has an effect on your attitude.

I was amazed to learn how colors and emotions are so closely related. I use powerpoint presentations daily and I will not be reviewing and reformatting the color schemes. I am a happy, upbeat instructor, but I don't think this comes across in my lessons. I am an online instructor so this will be one more way to positively approach my students.

cynthia,
this is a great little technique that's relatively easy & inexpensive.

Color coding makes it easier for students to remember information

Color is a wonderful way to teach students. I have use it in a variety of ways in my class and will continue to do so. My student schedules are on colored paper and our lectures are in color. We also use colored flash cards. The students love it.

It is an interresting point and helpful with stress. I will plan on using more color for that as well.

I will inplement the use of color when I use hand-outs consciously using particular colors to add emphasis to points I want to stress.

Harold,
I agree that color is a very valuable tool. It can be used for impact on emotions as well as for memory identification & retention.
