activities

Acctivities should be set up to get all students involved with the learining process. Both initial activities to access where the students are with any subject to direct the learning process and and ending lab to see how much they have learnned .

I agree. I also teach nursing and hands on activities are important. The student must perform different types of procedures and activities daily while at the clinical sites and when they enter the work force. These activities in the "practice" session should both be informative and fun. When we are having fun we tend to remember the steps and the activity better

I think a brief summary of the days objectives, lab and lecture are key to retention. In addition, the next day, beginning the class with a comprehensive review of the topics covered the previous day is key to retaining information learned.

Activities reinforce the theory taught during the lecture. I find in my nursing class that when I am able to integrate "hands on" (kinesthetic) activities, the learning takes place faster and is more applicable. I thinks this speaks about the personalities of students who persue nursing since it is a hands-on profession.

WE DO DEMO AND HANDS ON,MOST OF STUDENT LEARN A LOT.

We include lecture, then i have them do active demonstrations in pairs, then individually as a project.

Projects are the best way to evaluate there understanding of the activity. Changing up students during the projects gives everyone a different look on how different students approch the same activity.

Absolutely Scott!

What types of projects/activities do you use?

Keep up the good work!

Agree. Projects and activities allow for optimal diversity interaction and creative learning

this is the best idea for MMi

Activities are related to debriefing and problem solving in a quantatiive course. Problem solving is a sometime group activity.

I've found that many books don't include good projects. Have you found this to be an issue?

Each of my students have a different activity of learning. Although many states that visual and auditory is their choice. Many prefer all three ways to learn. The best learning method that I have observed and the most effective is when they actual have hands on experience and written instructions. Perhaps as a person who personally need hands on and visual learning, I tend to teach in those two methods. Even employing all of the different activities of learning its still is difficult getting the students to comprehend.

I think student learn better when the teacher apply activities to the subject that she is teaching., some student are more visual when it come to learn something new.

thats teamwork we use this stategy often in our school diversity in each group helps undestanding prodgects also.

Activities are crucial to the learning process. Yes you need the beginning to direct and the end to assess learning. The activities need to be relavent to the study and effective to reaching as many learning styles as possible.
