memory and student retention

students know when you really pay attention and know them, they will stay with you until the end of their course generaly when they see you care.

I totally agree that always paying attention to your students give the instructor insight into the students strengths and weaknesses, which in turn helps you as an instructor to focus on their strengths and weaknesses to increase their confidence therefore help with memory and retention of the material.

I agree that when a student begin a class and observe the caring attitude of the instructor and how she/he treats them (like a person) they will try very hard to please the instructor by attending daily and completing all assigned work.

Knowing students is a must, but it does not guarantee that they will stay in your class. The students need to feel that you are capable, helpful and concerned with their success: that is what they are looking for.

I agree, if the teacher gets to know the student, the student become confortable in the classroom. This confortable state will allow the student to get more involved in the learning activities. Allowing the student to work in teams or groups also accelerates the learning process. The group doesn’t have to be a formal team. Allowing the student to work together with someone they feel comfortable with can also aid the process of learning.

Very much so. Always pay attention to the students so they know that you care.

I absolutely agree. When students see you are as engaged as they are in the class, it maks them believe in what they are doing.

i have found that if i have faith in my students they tend to work harder not to dissappoint me

I agree also when students know that you care about them and not the paycheck it hits home they will want learn and absorb like a sponge all it takes is for the instructor to care,if it matters to us it matters to them.

i agree, they love to know we care and are there for them ,if they care for the instructor and the course they will follow you into war and back. that is a good sign of a great instructor.
