Maximize retention through Proper delivery of material

I have proven that when you prepare your self with the knowledge of the subject you are able to deliver it to the students in more than one so that they understand and feel like they have achived their objective. Students tends to come back for more knowledge when they are understanding the material presented.

I agree that it is very important to be able to explain, give examples and by including the students in the learning experience can certainly be a win win situation!

I find this true especially with projects. Most students like explicit directions and guidance on class projects. I allot time to explain, have students ask questions and give written material regarding projects. I share how much they weight on their grades and the importance of seeking help as needed.

I also tell the students because I am spending this time on this project I expect everyone's project to be on time.

This seems to work and for the most part the projects are turn in on time.

Rick,
So true! I too try to use quite a few video clips to help illustrate or support a point. Nowadays with youtube & other web sites it is so easy to find a wide variety of video clips that can support nearly any point.

It's a matter of how the informaiton is presented. In some cases I'll presetnt the information verbally and support it with powerpoint. Then I'll use a short video to demonstrate the concepts we just discussed and follow up with a guided discussion on the video. Adult learners love videos.

You have expressed my thoughts on the topic perfectly.

Maximizing retention is a challenge to all but explaining and elaborating the subject matter is a sure win win situation for all.

If the instructor has had little experience teaching in the class room it will be of great benefit to prepare well in advance on the subject. Observing other instructors and fine the style that fits you best and taking courses that will prepare you for student management through MAXKnowledge will help prepare the new instructor. When you enter the room and command the class and know the material, then the students will respect you.

Knowledge is key but it's how it's given to them also you might know alot but if you suck at giving the knowledge they won't pay attentions so you also have acting skills witch helps a great deal
