reppeating
through reppitition Will help in retention of material both verbal and written.
James,
There are many methods to help with retention, and good old repetition is still one of the best.
Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Repeating the key point over a few times can help the students to retain the information. I would use different ways to explain the same things.
Continual repetition only works for students who wish to learn. My class is the forth of nine classes. Some important material has been repeated in every class is not used or missed in our final test. For people who have trouble picking up material I have been thanked for continuing major material repetition.
I have had students complain about repetition, my stock reply is 'When it is not missed'.
James Watters
Yes, repetition really does aid learning. Honestly I've found one of the best methods is the old public speaking principle of tell them what you're going to tell them, tell them & then tell them what you've told them.
Ryan
I like the idea of finding creative ways to repeat the information - knowledge retention is so important.
Great job Jerry!
Inform, inform, practice, practice, repeat, repeat and start over again. Isn't this the way learning has taken place for many years?
Keep up the good work!

I try to give them the same information in as many different ways as I can. Hopefully one of them will click with them.
I believe in this industry repetition is very important.
I agree. Hearing it once; may sound foriegn to them. Twice heard catches thier attention. Three times I usually find out it sticks.
I agree, repetitions helps me memorized what i need to remember
Hi Leslie and Mark!
Great ideas! I tell my students if you hear me say something 3 times, you know that it is important. And - each time - I try to elevate the importance through voice modulation.
Keep up the good work!

I agree, the important points are always spoken a few times and with a bit more volume.
Reinforcement by use of the white board and homework repetition helps retention.
often if you go over the lesson at the end of the lesson bring up the most important items and repeat important facts of the lesson the retentiongets even better.
