organized class
I feel that my classes run very well when I look through the content and organize as I feel would work best on a day to day- there are times they seperate subjects that should be taught together
Scott,
this is a great point & one that I know I need to work on. We want our students to be organized, what example are we setting?
Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
I prepare my handouts before class starts then list the days outline on the white board. Once class starts everything is ready to go. When I was in school I expected my professors to be organized. I believe my students deserve the same.
Kimberly,
nothing can replace good organization skills at the beginning, middle & end of a course.

I agree also organization is need in the beginning of classes beginning and consistance is a must
Michelle,
yes, we really do need to understand that if we are not prepared or organized we are in a sense stealing from our students.

I agree that if the instructor is not organized and knowledgeable of the material and can make for a unproductive class. This not only was the students time but the money they have paid for there education.
I agree organization starts at the head. If the instructor is not prepared it shows in their class.
Diane,
that's a great concept, thank you for sharing.

Most of the time I do not start at Chapter One when I am teaching my college students I tie it all together with a chapter in the middle of the textbook because sometimes college textbooks can be redundant.
I would have to agree! I'm very organize and i find that when i together so is my class! On the other hand when it comes to my subjects i teach one thing at a time.
Niurka,
you are very right & this also helps our crediblity as a professional.

I think when you are an organized instructor you will get better results in your classroom.
I agree class organization and planning is key. As one example, the text book I use for my course is laid out very differently than how I assign reading from out. I try to match the readings with lectures, activities and how best to build the memory of concepts in the minds of the students. I have spoken with several other teachers who teach my same topic and they all do the same. So, we are wondering why ALL the textbooks we use follow the same format. Perhaps the writer hadn't tried to teach the subject.
When you do not prepare and organize your class is a waste of time for both the student and the instructor, which can lead to a lack of motivation.
Yes agree without organization then information can be lost. It is very important.
I think organization is everything. I also ask the students to stick with the outline as this is what is most important for them to learn.
I sometimes blend subjects together, like you said, because they go together.
I think my classes run well as I think the students really aare interested in nursing
