memory games

Memory games are a good way to get the mind working.. flash cards are a great tool

I use flashcards on a daily basis with my students. They study medical terminology and flash cards are the best thing for them! I tell the students that when I was in school-I would carry my cards everywhere-grocery store, work, doctors office...they are very handy! They also make it nice to have other people quiz you!

I agree it is visual, can be repeatitive and reenforce learning.

Jeannette,
yes the memory exercises can be a great way to learn as it's fun & helpful.

I agree with memory excercises. I like to try fun excercises where the students do not even realize they are retaining.

Gay,
I agree that the use of Flash Cards is an underrated way to really retain information.

Flash cards are a great way to review lots of Anatomy and Physiology info before tests/finals. I also have my students make their own Muscle Flash Cards so that they can carry them with them and study them at odd moments during their day.

I can see a useful game already through taking this course, using the flash card idea.
Thanks!

Robert,
this is a great idea as you're able to connect the learning activity with real life situations.

Since I teach criminal justice, memory is very important. I usually give the students several pictures of faces to study and then after about 5 minutes, give them a series of questions based off of the faces they just studied. This helps with their memory and is very usual when they need to take a civil service test to be hired in this field.

I am going to try and convince all my students to use flash cards.

Memory games are good and excellent for retention. Also discussing with students the needs for different types of memory exercises to keep different parts of your brain stimulated. If you don't use it, you will loose it.

I try to convice all my students to use flash cards. I made some for class using pictures instead of questions to teach A&P.

Nicole,
they really are. Too often we relegate flash cards to elementary school but they have such value.
