movement

As you move around the room it keeps the students involved.

Hi Karen!

When the instructor is more focused and totally involved in the class, students will naturally follow!

Keep up the good work!

I find moving around the classroom makes me more focused and also leads to students to pay attention especially if I am asking questions. They may be afraid I will call on them if I notice them disengaged

I agree with you. Moving around the room allows me to make the student feel that I'm involved with their individual learning. Also it allow me to see which students may be dis-engaged with the material that has been presented. Pet peve of mine is catching a dis-engaged student....texting on the phone. Movement allows me to see "dis-engagement".

Greetings!

I like this approach Jonathon! You are keeping them on their toes. Do most of the students respond well to be unexpectedly call on as an assistant ( I assume this is what happens).

Keep up the good work!

Hi Charleen!

I find moving about the room helps me get to know the students much better. I learn their habits, can tell which ones are tired and/or restless, and those who aren't quit getting it!

Good job!

I like to move around the room to keep there attention and to make them all apart of the lecture.

When i am lecturing or doing demos i move around the room involving students and getting them to be apart of the converstaion. I also get them up to help me as a assistant which then gets them involved and they dont know if they will be next so they have to pay attention

Hi Elizabeth!

What a great way to draw those less engaged students into the conversation. It's only natural that the student who draws more attention is the one on which we focus. Somehow we have to be able to strike a balance and it appears that you are doing just that.

Keep up the good work!

I find that when I move around the room, it reminds me to involve the students who do not speak up during class. By being near them, they feel more as though I'm asking them a conversational question as opposed to putting them on the spot from the front of the classroom.
