Developing Your Communication Skills

In my opinion, nonverbal cues are “silent killers” and they can affect how the instructor is perceived by his or her students. Therefore, one should try to be aware of their own mannerism so they can be controlled in positive way

Non verbal communication is 80% of the communication you have woith your dental patient. I really try and help the students learn how important non-verbal communication is, by demonstrating in the classroom as the instructor. I try to stay in check with this skill as an instructor as well.

An example of this would be fidgeting; I think eye contact is one of the most important non verbal skills that helps to include each student and to allow feedback for an instructor's perception of their grasp of the material.
