Presenting Yourself In Classroom
Today because of so many distractions and everything being so fast pace it is so important to bring your students in and motivate them to achieve the necessary outcomes/objectives of the classr. Always present yourself (the teacher) in positive nuturing environment. The way you articulate your voice and the way you represent yourself as professional will make a major impact on you in classroom and with the students in the room. So always be enthusiastic and make sure you speak to your students just as you were publicly speaking to audience. Students will appear happier when you market and present yourself in a positive professional manner always.
I agree that presenting professionally sets the right tone for any audience. How disheartening to pay good money for a symposium and find that the "expert lecturer" is so disorganized that you already question their expertise and groan about how the information will be presented.
Being aware of how you are perceived/being received/impression made is crucial in snaring the attention of the audience. Also being prepared provides ongoing role modeling for students toward the expectations in the working world.
There are several ways of presenting a postive image in my classes.
(1) The class materials (powerpoint, excereiscs, assignmentss) are set up before the class meets. This creates a strong sense of preparation and planning
(2) No lectures notes are used. The contact with the student is continuous.
(3) All the PowerPoints presentaitons have a professional look.
These items help me to create a professional, but postive image.
Hi Sonny!
Being real and authentic in approach is necessary! I like for students to know that instructors learn from them as well, it demystifies us as instructors.
Keep up the good work!
