making good eye contact with your students allows you to "see" if they are grasping what you are saying. It also gives students a feeling of being involved, you are paying attention to them all.
I think it provides them with a sense that you are interested in them individually even though you are teaching a class. Additionally, it can leep them involved in the classroom as opposed to wandering off.
Eye contact makes a student feel that his or her presence in class is important.
Eye contact helps the student know that you are aware of him or her. Some students feel left out or unimportant if the instructor never looks their way. It can also help to maintain order in the classroom.
When an instructor maintains good eye contact with the students durng lecture, she or he can gage the atmosphere of the classroom setting. She can determine if a student understands, is daydreaming, or is totally lost. She can also maintains control over the class by adjusting in accordance with what is view. For an example if the instructor feels the student is lost, she/he can ask a question in order to gage understanding of the covered material.
Maintaining eye contact with the student lets the student know that you respect him/her and that you welcome them to the class.
Maintaining eye contact with the students is agreat tool to show that you acknowledge them and care about them. I used to feel great when my instructor gave me eye contact. I gives you a sense of connection with the intructor/student and material discussed...
I think the eye contact helps keep me focused. It is much easier to use the other skills of good communication when I am focused on my students, instead of being completely focused on the content.
When I am making eye contact with students, I am reminding myself that my purpose is not just to transfer facts, but to share information.
Eye contact is important because it shows your students that you are confident, engaged, and alert. You can also get an idea of if the students are understanding what is being taught.
I maintain eye contact for a number of reasons. It is very respectful and shows I see each student individually. It does allow me to see if they are understanding content or have a perplexed look on their faces. It allows me to also see if they are having a good day or maybe something else is going on that I may need to address.
As an instructor, making eye contact with your students allows you to read their facial expressions which, in many ways, can let you know if they are engaged or disconnected with the content that is being explained. It also allows me to make each student feel as if I am speaking with each one of them individually even though we are in a group setting.
It lets the students know I am focusing on them and also I can tell how invilved they are as well
Eye contact establishes the relationship between teacher and student. It involves the student in the presentation. It also lets the student know the teacher is including them in the conversation.

I feel eye contact with students give them the opportunity to engage in your lecture. Also it it intercepts with confusion of a subject you can look in the eyes of your students to receive that once over for understanding purposes.
It lets the student know that you are in tune with what they are saying; it captures their attention. However, maintaining too long of an eye-contact may cause the student to become nervous or mopre nervous
It shows the students that you are connected and engaged in the learning process.
Greetings Michael!
Eye contact is certainly a very important tool in the instructors tool kit. Students are better connected and encouraged about their learning successes.
Keep up the good work!

Good eye contact allows the instructor to develop a nonverbal raport with a student, which will allow the student to feel more comfortable in the class and in turn allow for an enhanced learning experience.
I find that eye contact durring lectures helps to make student feel comfortable. If they feel comfortable it will give them the confidence to speak up for discussion.
It gives the student the impression that your lecture was prepared with them in mind.
