Eye Contact & Smiling Inside/Outside of Classroom

I feel having good eye contact outside of the classroom is extremely effective. The hallways are a great means to continue developing relationships with previous, current and future students. I present a friendly and welcoming facial expressions to acknowledge the students are important to me. They feel respected in and out of the classroom.

Linda,
it's amazing what this greeting of students outisde the classroom can do & especially if we remember to call them by name.

Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

Whenever I see students in the hallways I always acknowledge them by smiling and asking "how are you?". When a student returns the greeting my reply is "I'm fine, thank you so much for asking!" Then I watch as a smile appears! What a nice feeling!

Good Morning or Good Afternoon is something I constantly say to everyone every day regardless if they are a student or not. I feel that making their presence known is something that is warm and inviting to them. We have students coming in for all sorts of things during the day and they always stop by my office just to say hi. I love having an open door policy for any student!

Hi Cindy!

I really like this! Anytime we make contact with either students in our classes or other classes, we are saying you are important to me and to the school. AND - I am available to assist you in anyway that I can.

Good job!
