eye contact
I really agree with the eye contact portion of this education. The eye contact really helps students know that I care
Kenny,
I too have found this to be true. This helps the students to know in a respectful way & without embarrassing them that we are watching & need them to stay on task.

Sometimes when a student is off task and not doing what they are supposed to, a look is all that is needed to let them know they are off task and they need to get back on task. A look is almost always more powerful than any words.
Vickie,
Yes, it is amazing to notice how just the brief eye contact can help all of us feel recognized & valued as a person.

eye contact is wonderful because it shows the student that you are attentive and eliminates "playing around" in class
That is so true. I know that I always appreciated brief eye contact from my instructor. It made me feel like he/she knew I was there, and not just talking to the space over my head.
I agree. I think when you make eye contact with each of your students, they feel that you are including them in your lecture. It also lets them know that you are aware of their presence.
