Helping highlight important topics for the students
Teaching is new to me so I am really enjoying this learning module. I really like the idea of really being straight forward with the students and highlighting the main topics to be covered that day and using statements that really draw the students attention to the point you are going to make. I know that I had instructors who I felt did not seem to want us to succeed or help us in anyway to know what was important, and that sure was not the best learning environment. We want the students to learn and succeed so it sure it important to help them to know what is important.
I been teaching for 3 years, so highlighting important topics is a must. We can incorporate them in different ways. Discussing in lectures, repeating them in lab demostrations and group discussions. I like to start class by giving they a brief summary of what we discussed the previous day, just to refresh their memory.

yes, while we don't want to "hand them the test questions" we should be helping them to know what is important & significant.
