Good list. I would add understanding how they approach an authority figure. Some cultures discourage that interaction with an instructor as you are an honored person. They may need help but not asking for it.

More importantly it's important for an instructor to be knowledgeable that people learn differently. So you may have to communicate by story telling style,
written work, or on the board work. Once an instructor understands her students learning style and ability he/she can prepare an approach of communicating that will benefit the broad spectrum of learning styles.

It's important to be aware of your audience in this case your students. Many come from different cultural background and experiences.
