becoming as one

as a chef the aspect of group learning in class is a detriment to their success.in the kitchen the chef is not a chef without the support of his team.interaction in a group study give you tools for the real life setting.

We also apply this in the automotive field. Students will complain when not allowed to choose their own groups but I have found that when friends get together in groups there is more horse play going on then work. They will not be able to choose who is in the next automotive bay and it benefits the student when productive lab work gets done instead of lab play.

From time to time I put my students in groups for cooking. I tell them right up front that there are things in life they cannot choose such as family, and who they work with in class and at the restaurant. They don't have to be friends with them but they need to learn how to get along and work with everyone, team work is key here.

This is so true in the chef world. If you cannot work well in a group setting in a classroom then you will not work well in a kitchen. I tried to impart this to my students everyday so they can understand the importance of being able to work in a group and work in one well.
