Student Work Groups
I let students know that they cannot always 'pare' with their buddy...unevent pairing prepares for the work place
I like to pare unlike students together if possible. Many of my students seem to work well in groups as long as I can still recognize personal talent.
pairing shy students with more outgoing people helps them start to break out of their shell.
This is true! You will not always like your co-workers. Learning to work together with diverse backgrounds leads to personal growth and acheivement for the individual students.
this (par with buddy) does not work, I find that one does all the work while the other copies.
I attempt to pare unlike students together if possible. Many of my students, in math, seem to work well in groups.
Thanks for your comments, Uwe. I have used random "paring" and group formations as well. It not only provides the opportunity for students to work with those with different characteristics and mindsets, but, as you referenced, it's very real to the workplace - we often cannot choose our work colleagues.
