monitoring students

by working with your students and keeping them on task, you really cover the monitor the students aspect and the student does not realize it due to they are focused on learning and stay interested.

I like them to know I will come to them> I stress that each are also individuals and have their own pace and not ever give up. Monitoring tells me when one or more are struggling and I may be able to re enforce a topic to the class as a whole without pointing out an individual. It all depends on knowing how they will react best to them as a group or individual.

Class monitoring helps also to minimize distractions between students.

in a culinary lab we have to constntly be monitoring our class not only to keep students on task but for safty

Yes, I move around the room and listen to each group's interaction and progress. At times I will interject a comment. The students appear to appreciate that I am there and my groups are usually successful.

Good job David!

Students feel like they are truly part of the learning process.

Keep up the good work!

Quite true. As a web design instructor it is very important that I check on each student along the way. Because people learn in different ways, monitoring lets me know when I need a different approach to reach some students. An alternative explanation is also beneficial to the others as well - reducing the chance of misinterpretation.
The class atmosphere really is more relaxed when students realize that they're being observed yet they don't feel intimidated.

Monitoring students from the time they enter the classroom until they leave lets the instructor keep them focused on the tasks at hand. When the instructor is moving throughout the class and keeping up with the progress of each student, it is possible to reinforce the learning that you can see has taken place. Students are more apt to ask for your help if you are close by than when you are seated and they feel that everyone is noticing when they request your help.

Students like attention they want to know that someone is watching and expecting something from them. I think students secretly do not hand in work to get the attention of the teacher. Students are looking for direction, and they want the concern from teachers, so monitioning students is a good thing.
