Forming Student Groups
When forming student groups you should always try to match student in a diverse group. This gives students an additional skill working with students from other cultures. As our organizations become more diverse, it is critical for students to learn about to work in our diverse economy.
I form groups based on luck of the draw. I explain to then that in this diverse society we should learn how to work with everyone. I the ask them, "Would you quit your job just because you don't get along with one of your co-worker?" What yu should do is to find a way as to get along with that particular co-worker.
Each students has something different to bring to the table of group learning and each should have their turn to voice their opinion.
I like to form student groups. When constructing groups I try to mix my students up and spread them evenly over the groups. Such areas of concentration are age and experience, different cultures and diferent medical backgrounds.By doing so i can ensure diversity and active participation with varying views.
I like to form student groups with a variety of diversity. I feel everyone has something important to add and if we were all the same then there would be nothing new to add.
Hi Alfonso!
You make an excellent point! However, I feel like we are all diverse. If we consider different parts of the U.S. and the local culture, we have much to learn from each other.
Now having said that - I live in a large military community where there is a great deal of diversity both nationally and internatiionally. I can recall the different receipes I've gathered which points to cultural differences. But not every community has that type of diversity.
Good job!
