monitoring
having students working in groups can be a very benificial exercise as students exchange ideas, it is also easier to monitor as you move around the room, pausing to give feedbcak or answer questions in a more one on one enviroment
great points everyone. It is important to monitor students as this will give them a better chance of becoming successful. Some students would prefer to come to class and be left alone while others are up front ready to participate. Its important to also involve the ones who like to be left alone as in the future their career may involve some kind of teamwork. The practice they gain now will be beneficial in the future. Also by monitoring you gain a better understanding of that students ability and how you can assist them.
Monitoring the students’ participation in your class is a valuable tool for instructors. It will help to insure that not only is the student completing the required assignments, but also enables you as the instructor to determine which parts of the lesson are most confusing. Taking note of these problem areas will also help you prepare for the next time you teach that particular lesson.
From my point of view the best way of monitoring the students that works for my and my teaching process is to offer the students sequence of assignments that require them to use knowledge and skills they attributed at my lectures. If it happens that I feel like loosing students attention (it's easy to figure out by just making eye contacts I would change the activity or simply would make a stop and go to something absolutely different and unexpected to discuss for couple minutes
Hi Kimberly!
As I've mentioned in the past, it helps students to understand and apply the principle of group work - Storming, Forming, Norming and Disbanding.
Keep up the good work!

Working in groups allows students to gain another source of information. Sometimes people are afraid to interact with the instructor, so by working in a group, may allow these individuals to from one another or begin to feel comfortable, so that they can approach me, the instructor
