using more gestures, and physical presense.

I sometimes don't use enough gentures while in the classroom. I know I have a physical presense. But the times I have used gestures, I recall that it got the attention of the students in a much better way.

Yes i do agree that you can keep th students engaged and more focused when you have active body language and are more visible physically. Moving around the clasroom and physical gestures keep students under control anf focused.

with my classes, i have learned to use a ton of gestures. it not only keeps their attention on me, but it also keeps them engaged because they never know what type of body language i am going to use. i sometimes use sign language in class while i talk due to a student that is hearing impared.the rest of the class tends to be more involved and use their own body language as a means to communicate with her.

I believe it is harder for a student to be distracted and unengaged if you are active in your body language. The use of active body language is important in conveying the message in a visual maner that accompanies the verbal information
