Spanish or other languages during and or after class

Some students speak to me in Spanish because of my background but I never speak to them in Spanish or answer their questions when they are in Spanish. Should I answer them in Spanish? I tell them that all communication must be done in English

I think you are correct in your ideas. Even if a few are capable of speaking Spanish the rest that aren't will be put in an unconfortable position in not understanding whats going on; possibly thinking that they are missing out on important information.

I have the same problem, for my background too.
I try to solve this matter with the elimination of Spanish in class, but I do not close the door, I offer after class help for clarify any problem or question they have. Works very well in both languages, English inside, they need to force their self with the language and outside they understand any pending question in Spanish. The only worry, you need to be alert, to do not accept the abuse in use Spanish outside the classroom.
