Lab Study groups for best results

I always attempt to have the students make their groups based on the concept of helping one another.

I will actually make mention to them that sometimes all the best students in the class in one group may not necessarily be the best outcome for their education.

I will explain to them that helping others within your lab study groups at times can actually better help you retain your education as well as the obvious of helping the others with theirs.

the class is small but decided into two smaller groups with a student leader selected each day. Initially each student was given the opportunity to be student leader. By choosing student leaders I have established who are the stronger students and who needs more help. The stronger students are now sharing with the students who are not as strong making for a better learning experience for both.

Yes especially when the students will be working primarilly in a crew environment in the field such as with the welding industry.

Anton,
that is great to demonstrate to get them to see the value & benefit of working these groups.
