What I learned for putting students into groups.

The students share idea and concepts. Easy to learn subject matter.

It also gives the opportunity to shy students to say something that they may not have wanted to say previously in open class. It help them realize that their ideas can be as good as the other members of the group. It helps to build their self-esteem, because they see themselves in a position as a contributor to knowledge and not solely as the student-receiver role.`

Another positive outcome of having students work in groups,is the one on one that they give each other. Many times students will understand at a deeper level after they have had a chance to work and talk about the project together

I really like to put the students in to groups. Especially in the beginning of the class. It gives them a chance to get to know each other and to share ideas. It also helps the students who are shy to ask questions to be able to brainstorm with their classmates with makes them feel more comfortable in class. When working in a group setting the students start to feel as though they are a team which is very important in the classroom.

I agree with this whole-heartedly. I have had really positive results by placing the top students with the struggling students. These groups tend to bring up the work of the struggling students by having someone else guide and assist them.
