diversity
Diversity should also mean the integrating of students, male, female, and black, white, american indian, hispanic etc.
Martin,
I completely agree & this is so helpful in understanding each other & therefore working better together.
Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
I think diversity of personality is important as well. If there are too many introverts or extroverts in the same group, problems can arise.
IDA,
yes, we must make sure that we are addressing this topic and/or making sure the groups are as diverse as possible.
Dr. Ryan Meers
Diversity is important because our cultur is very diverse and it can enhance the learning experience
Cynthia,
and it is so important to acknowledge that reality so our students are prepared to work in this new environment.
Dr. Ryan Meers
All students have to play a part. Sometimes you have to bend their arm but they will jump in and try. I am happy when I get them to that point because I know they are ready and not afraid so I have done my part. P O'Dwyer
Yes and we have a mixture. It is hard to accomidate all but can be done. I try to pair them up with lower level higher level. Our world will soon be very diverse and that will change teaching forever. P O'Dwyer
Yes true the more we deal with the diffent diversity in the classroom the more the students will be able to cope with the work environment. This gives us a better sucess rate in the end.
ghia,
yes the more diversity we can get in our groups, the more realistic of the work environment they are.
Dr. Ryan Meers
in todays medical world you have to learn to accept and dal and work with people of mulitple diversity
Yes,I agree. In groups you should have diversity. Cant combine same sex or same race. Having a diversity, it will give you different opinions.
I apply diversity in relation to levels of experience. If all or most of the students in a group have the same level of experience, it may influence group outcomes.
Becki,
I agree & one of the best things we can teach our students is how to listen to & appreciate the perspectives & opinions of others.
Dr. Ryan Meers
I think that "labels" should be thrown out in that all students should be included. In this way, I believe that no one should feel left out. All of us have opinions--teaching students to share without threat is a positive experience.
