Discussion Groups
In my experience, when forming groups it is VERY important to make each group diverse, point out that they are diverse for a reason, and encourage them to get outside of the comfort zone in interacting with people that are different than they are. I remind them if they only allow themselves to hear ideas from people like them, they will be shutting themselves off from a HUGE source of information and experience.
aimee,
and the diversity of the groups helps to reflect the more modern work environment.

I agree that groups need to be diverse. If not and you tell the students to get in to groups we work with our friend and we may not perform to the best of our ability as we would with another classmate
Stephen,
this is a great point to make & to be clear with the groups. It's great for them to be diverse but even better when they know it & the reason behind it as you said here.
