Incorporating each students input into a project

To incorporate each students input into a project lets the student know that he/she is really a part of the team and not just a spectator. Ask pointed questions that each one has to answer. Give certain projects for each student with the premise that they can interchange projects if one is more feasible than another and both parties are in agreement. I think people do better when they are comfortable with whatever they can adequately bring to the table.

Michael,
this is a great exercise that we all can use as a great learning tool for our students. Thank you so much for sharing.

I recently conducted a group exercise that consisted of two researchers (they conducted the searches on the internet), two stenographers (they recorded the information the researchers found), and two presenters (who would present the information on their given topic). I made it clear that the presenters had to know what the information MEANT, not merely provide a regurgitation of data. This forced the other group participants to make sure the information they were providing and recording was clear to all. It was a resounding success, and I intend to use this method for all of my group-based projects.

Patricia,
thank you for these great suggestions. You are so right regarding the need to & importance of helping each student to provide input into the project/process.
