Instructing Diverse Students

Patience and student support are the keys to produce a successful student who may have a language barrier.

Hi geraldine!

I like to give the diverse learner an opportunity to share their culture, etc. with the class. This will often reduce the awkwardness/anxiety that the diverse student feels.

Keep up the good work!

I agree, I also think that the instructor needs to be aware that their is a challenge and is instructed on how to help, if they don't know how to help the student.

I absolutely agree that the students that have a language problem need to have support from their instructors and peers. If they have a mentor or counselor that can speak their language it helps out tremendously.
Thanks and aloha,
Geraldine
