Real Life Experiences

Real Life Experiences are always best to use because students feel confident if you have completed your learning experience they can too. This gives them encouragement to stay focused.

I agree with your thoughts, I like to use life experiences to show the connection of what's being tault to real life issues. When you can discuss/show that the lecture happens to us in real life, it makes students get a better feel and understanding of the information/lecture.

I agree. We must get students involoved in thier learning so they will excel using thier perspective.

When you communicate past mistakes it allows the students to see you (and themselves) as learners-in-progress. And if you can tell your stories with humor and perspective...it is a winner for most learners.

I think student enjoy and recieve better when you give them real life expeirence examples.

Elizabeth,

I would agree in sharing life experieinces with student can be benefical for the students. It gives them an opportunity to see someone who has experienced it or has applied the knowlwedge to everyday life and understand the benefits or mishaps that can happen. I try to give my students a working relationship between what we are going over and how it will apply to their new career once they graduate. They seem to enjoy it.

I always use real-life experiences, and I encourage my students to give examples from their own lives as well. It helps to make the content more relevent.

I too, like to use real life expriences as a learning tool for my students.

I like to use real life experiences in my lectures for two reasons: 1) Students can relate to them and it makes them connect with the instructor. 2) If used correctly in a lecture it can help the student to understand the subject matter being presented.

I agree.

I think real life examples give them ownership in the learning process.

I have found that when using my real life experiences, if it is something I learned through a mistake I made, it seems to help the student because now I am human as well. Learning through mistakes can be one of the best learning tools as long as no one was hurt during the mistake. Most students seem to appreciate it when I tell them about my mistakes because it helps them to realize that perfection just isn't going to happen.

I like to tie real life experiences and situations in with what we are learning in class. I try to inform my students of situations where I've found the knowledge that we are currently working on to be useful or beneficial in some way.

Bravo Alfonso - so true!

Good job!
