diverse learner
The diverse learner is a type of person who learns in many ways. I think it is important to offer different types of learning such as verbal, tactile, visual and auditory. Without different means of delivery it is difficult to reach a large group of students
I agree with your statement, it is important to remember to slow down when speaking as well so they can understand what you are saying.
I have had many students that english wasn't there first language, and at times trying to get the material across has been difficult. I have had to sometimes ask another student that speaks there language and English help me with tutoring to help get the information across.
I think that when working with a more diverse student population you need to be aware of your own vocabulary, being an instructor means that you have had typically more education then the students and probably a larger vocabulary. I think that instructors need to remember that at times, some of the words that they use are not in the students vocaulary and they may struggle with trying to understand you and be too shy to say that they are unaware of what a word means.
Hi Jill!
What methods of teaching would you use for divrse students that would be different from "regular" teaching?
Keep up the good work!

The classrooms of today are extremely diverse. There are many teachers who do not take into consideration the diversity of the students they teach. There are many types of diverse learning groups, such as gender, cultural and linguistic. Students all come from different backgrounds, have different interests and have different learning structures that they are accustomed to. It is important to use the best methods of teaching a diverse student population as possible in order to be an effective teacher.
