You must also make the student feel welcome and that will get them to open up and share their life travels with others. Having them work in groups and doing ice breakers is another way to build communication and diversity.
Diverse learning makes the comprehension more difficult and can easily frustrate a studen. As an instructor it's our job to make sure to check with those students to make sure there are understanding the material. I would think breaking the class up into smaller groups to touch base with students would be a way to help eliminate any frustration.
This is true because not many people learn the same. It is good to change up the way you teach throughout the class period. Some learn better reading on their own and some learn by lecture and others learn by hands on or doing something. If the class is broken up this way then it will help. maybe start off by lectureing and then give them time to read over some of the things they just had and then maybe split the class up and have them to play a game. This is fun and everyone stay busy while they all learn.
