reading and writing challenges
I understand the concepts here in this module, however I teach Medical students. The absolutely need to know how to spell and spell correctly. I have found that students coming from outside the united states have a hard time with our vowels and silent letters. They spell "HOME" like this "HOM". They spell everything the way it sounds. Writing in a persons medical chart and having typos can be a huge legal issue.
Agreed, errors need to be viewed differently based on the context used...I suppose that the level of correctness can be taught with enough time and effort.
I teach cosmetology, I feel reading and writing are important to understanding concepts,and the foundation of theory with the chemical aspect of our industry.However most stylist I've worked with over my 30 years are much more visual, artists so to speak.
