Life Experience
Sometimes student use life experience to help them resolving school theories or projects. Life experience is something you have been thru in reality not something being taught from the book. Its a reality situation you experienced
mark,
I'm glad you had the chance to talk with them about the job market. I think sometimes we focus on telling the "cool" stories from real life experience, but we also need to have these reality chats with our students so they are best prepared for what they will be facing.

I agree. Honest discussions about real life experiences is almost just as good as lecturing from a book, although not on a daily basis. Just today I could tell the students were concerned about some things a recent graduate said about the job market. I talked with them for almost two hours about the job market, what it will be like for them working, what they can expect, externships and job hunting, and it really helped calm them down.
Yes the real life experiences do help them to know what they will be facing in just a short amount of time. And you are right that this does help in discussing the diversity we all experience.

I agree. I found my students ejoy listening to my stories about the "real world" and whats to come for them. A sense of behind the scene look at things. We also share as a class different life experiences, very good to talk about Diversity as well.
