Hearing Issues

I don't know sign language, and one of my students is hard of hearing. How should I best approach this?

laura,
this is a great example of being flexible with the student & demonstrating your willingness to help her be successful.

Dr. Ryan Meers

I have a student with a hearing disorder. Most student with hearing disorder can read lips. I asked her to sit the the front row, bring a tape recorder, and please ask if she needs and remediation. I try to be very careful when I'm lecturing to not put my back to her. She has been in my class for 2 quarters and things are going well.

This is a difficult situation. Perhaps there is someone at your school who knows sign language and can help you.
